About Us

The Suffolk Riding Club was originally founded in 1965 and is an Affiliated British Riding Club.

The Club has members covering the area from Beccles to Woodbridge / Ipswich to Bury St Edmunds and Diss. Members currently number about 60 ranging from the young to the mature, the very novice to the experienced, those wanting to be in Affiliated teams and those who want to ride with others just for fun and visit different Equine places.

We pride ourselves in catering for everyone, being friendly and welcoming. We aim to provide expertise, encouragement and opportunities to improve for everyone. We cater for all riders from the very inexperienced to those regularly competing at top level in a variety of disciplines.

We cater for all types of equestrian rider, young, old, novice, improvers and those who wish to take part in Team events, regardless of what type of horse or pony you have, just a leg at each corner!

Our Equestrian Training covers Dressage, Showjumping, Cross Country, Showing: Ridden & In Hand, Riding & Road Safety and all levels of schooling at various locations in Suffolk.

Training, lessons & schooling sessions are held regulary throughout the year on your own horse or pony, on week days and week ends, indoors and outdoors at Framsden, Otley, Westerfield and Stonham Aspal in Suffolk. Our registered BHS qualified instructors, which include jumping and dressage trainers, cover all abilities and ages.

The Committee are a very friendly bunch with lots of different skills and qualifications who will help you with any horse related training, problems or queries. Most of them have one or more equines ranging from Rescued ponies, Mountain and Moorland ponies to Eventers.

Most Members have their own horses, but you don't have to own one to be a member.

Members include everyone from happy hackers to high level competitors.

A Performance Points competition and best All-rounder competition is run throughout the year for both junior and senior members with trophies and super rosettes being presented to the winners at our AGM in February.

We hold regular Training sessions, a Show in August and various social events throughout the year.

Visits to see various equine establishments, social events and demonstrations take place throughout the year.

As well as providing many great events for members, riders and friends, we have also raised several hundred pounds for various local charities over the years.

Training, clinics, visits & shows are open to non members as well as members and friends.

Members have reduced entry fees at our shows, clinics and visits, also free adverts in our newsletters and on this web site
